Hi Reader!
Grilling use to feel intimidating to me, because I'm used to prepping the food while my husband takes over outside. But a few summers ago I was determined to learn the basics, and now I realize it’s one of the easiest ways to make dinner in the summer.
Whether you’re grilling outside or using a grill pan inside, this is my little nudge for you to try it yourself. If you’re just starting out on the grill, be sure to check out my grilling tips below!

Preheat the grill Give the grill a few minutes to get hot before adding food. It helps with that good sear and keeps things from sticking.
Oil the grates A little oil goes a long way. I like using long grill tongs and a folded paper towel with oil to lightly grease the grates before cooking.
Use a meat thermometer This takes out so the guesswork, especially with chicken, steak, and fish. It’s the easiest way to know when dinner is actually done. Here's the one I use!
Know your heat zones Direct heat is right over the flame and great for burgers, chicken, shrimp, and veggies. Indirect heat is off to the side and better for foods that need more time.

2 Tools I Use the Most at the Grill
A good tong and spatula set makes grilling so much easier, especially when you’re still getting comfortable with the heat. Use the tongs for chicken, veggies, and skewers, and the spatula for burgers, fish, and anything that needs a gentler flip.
