Hi Reader!
April was a blast, especially because it started with spring break in Italy. We started in Rome, where we explored the Colosseum, tossed coins into the Trevi Fountain, and wandered the Spanish Steps. We made our way to Vatican City to see St. Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel. We ate some othe best pizza and pasta with lots of gelato in between!
From Rome, we drove to Tuscany to visit Florence (where we climbed 414 steps of the Giotto's Bell Tower), Pisa and a couple smaller charming towns like Lucca and San Gaminiano. We spent an afternoon taking a cooking class to learn how to make ravioli from an Italian Nonna. We always really enjoy taking cooking classes as a family, it feels like our own tradition whenever we visit a new place!
Once I got back, I dove straight into some serious Spring cleaning and plenty of organizing. And of course, spring sports were in full swing and I was a proud mama watching Coco play volleyball and tennis (with all my snacks) and Adam running on the track team. Coco and I even got to attend a professional volleyball game which was a blast!
April was also Arab American Heritage Month, and I had the honor of speaking on a panel in Dearborn at Ford for their MENA (Middle East and North Africa) group. I also did a virtual cooking class with McKesson's MENA group and attended the Commission on Middle Eastern American Affairs celebration event - I'm so proud of my heritage and appreciate the opportunity to share my journey and success story as an Arab American.
